Welcome to the Intercultural Studies Major

Dear co-workers in the Kingdom of God!

God has called an old man into his kingdom in a small rural village in Korea through a stranger who was sent to share the gospel by an American missionary 90 years ago. One cold winter morning, when the stranger told the story of Jesus, the old man accepted gladly the good news that the heavenly king's only son came to earth and forgave all sins of human beings. At the very day the old man and his son's couple were accepted into the heavenly family. The news that the family abandoned the villagers' traditional life of Confucianism and Buddhism reached the neighbors' ear rapidly and what followed were persecutions. The old man's family, however, could cope all trials with the protecting grace of the Holy Spirit. The old man went back to his creator's bosom a few years later, but his son¡®s family were faithful to the King and established a strong church at last. During the last 90 years, this church nurtured numerous heavenly people among whom there have been pastors and missionaries. Today, almost a half of the villagers are worshippers of the Lord.

This is my family story and I am one of the 36 great grand children of the old man. Whenever I think about this, I am so grateful to the missionary who came to Korea to preach the gospel to my hometown. The missionary was Rev. Edward Adams dispatched by the Northern Presbyterian Church in America. Rev Adams was the founder of a mission station in Daegu, Korea and greatly contributed to the dramatical changes to people's lives in Southeastern part of Korean Peninsula. His influences still remain in our hearts including myself. Through this, I was blessed to serve as a missionary in the Philippines for 21 years.

What do you think about Rev. Edward Adams' life? Isn't it more valuable than any gold or silver? Isn't it more precious than any honor or fame in the world? If you think so, come to Midwest University and let us change the world together. Why not enroll and study here today? Let's expect great things from God and let's attempt great things for Him at Midwest University.

Prof. Jose H. S. Nam, Th.D.
