Dear Friends
in Christ,
In 1984, Gail Sheehy wrote Passages, which caught the
attention of many in society, especially missionaries.
Life is full of passages: leaving home to enter Kindergarten,
then on to high school, college, selection of a vocation,
marriage partner, and so forth. During that timeframe
many of us will also "turn from darkness to life" (Acts
26:18), which was Paul's way of describing a person changing
from being "self-centered" to becoming "Christ-Centered."
As a freshman in college, I had that experience, which
eventually led me to Korea as a missionary involved in
Christian social work with World Vision and then as an
educator in church growth and missions. Living 40 years
in Korea with our family was a GREAT blessing. After
returning to the States, Dr. James Song invited me to
become involved with the development of Midwest University.
So instead of planning for retirement, I prayed for "retirement."
Some of you are preparing for a Christian vocation while
others are seeking additional mid-career graduate education.
I'm sure that you are still experiencing "passages" in
life, and becoming a student at Midwest would be both
challenging and satisfying as you learn to see life from
God's viewpoint.
We all have limited time and money, so I invite you
to invest wisely by coming to Midwest, either as a residential
student or by enrolling in our distance education program.
While continuing your secular or Christian profession,
you can sharpen your skills with studies at Midwest.
Hope to see you soon on our campus!
Serving Jesus Together,
Marlin L. Nelson, D. Miss.
