PURPOSE
The Mission of the Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages is to provide greater opportunities for teaching specialists to enter broader fields of service. This professional credential is designed to prepare English language instructors to assume teaching responsibilities in worldwide settings such as overseas public schools, post-secondary institutions, language schools, and corporate-based language programs. |

| LEARNER OUTCOMES
Students will : |
| 1. |
develop a base of knowledge,
both theoretical and practical, which will form the foundation
for successful teaching; |

apply principles learned
in their studies to develop a quality instructional program; |

design a comprehensive
language learning program which may be delivered in varied
venues. |

| Requirements for Admission to the MATESOL Degree Program:
Applicants to the MA-TESOL Degree Program must
possess a Bachelor's Degree, preferably in English or English/Language
Arts education. Because all courses will be delivered in
usualpaced spoken English, a very high level of English proficiency
is essential. A TOEFL (or equivalent assessment test) score
of 550 is highly desirable, and a personal interview conducted
by native English speakers is necessary to avoid potential
difficulties. |
