It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Midwest University ESL Program. It is our intention to provide you with the best possible learning experience during the course of your studies.
The English as a Second Language (ESL) Program develops students’ English proficiency for effective communication in the American community and success at the Midwest academic classes that are offered in English.
The ESL Program offers its students four proficiency levels of English language studies in the areas of listening and speaking, reading, writing, and grammar. Placement into the appropriate level will be based on a placement exam, an oral interview, and a weeklong study with the instructors. Elective courses are also offered in pronunciation, American culture, current events, TOEFL preparation, and English for ministry.
ESL instruction is delivered by degree holding, committed and experienced instructors in classroom settings, and through cultural excursions. The student-teacher ratio is typically about 10:1, providing students with opportunities for individual assistance.
We are proud of our program and encourage your inquiries and consideration to join us in at the Midwest University ESL program.
Eunmee Lee, Ph.D.
